Habitat for Humanity
Summerfield is the contractor of record for West Tuality Habitat for Humanity’s two-unit town home being built in Forest Grove for two families in need of decent, affordable housing. As the contractor of record for the town home, Summerfield acts as HfH’s liaison with subcontractors. Summerfield has contacted subcontractors that the builder works with to see if they would be willing to help with the project. Thus far, Summerfield has been a catalyst for helping HfH receive a generous $10,000 grant from 84 Lumber that will go toward building one of the two units. Lumberman’s has kindly matched that grant for the other unit. Additionally, other subcontractors have made donations or committed to making donations. For example, Francisco Campuzano of Tusa Excavation helped with the land excavation, and CM & Sons Roofing has committed to doing the roof. Besides securing subcontractor support, which wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the companies willing to help, Summerfield also schedules the job sequencing for the project. In addition to this project, Summerfield has been an ongoing supporter of HfH through material and monetary donations as well as by offering building expertise. In 2006, Summerfield raised money for HfH at the First Annual Festival of Charity Lights event that the builder hosted at its Forest Grove subdivision, Oak Hill Settlement
