Summerfield Homes was founded in 1996 by Dave Huttula. For eight years, David built homes in the Portland metro area, many of which were located in Forest Grove. Prior to owning Summerfield Homes, David Huttula was an electrical engineer.That experience provided him important skills for when he became a home builder.

In 2004 David Huttula transformed Summerfield into a company that focuses on constructing homes built with superior craftsmanship, functional floor plans and luxurious amenities. The builders also became green builders in 2005 when Earth Advantage and Energy Star began certifying Summerfield’s homes for meeting standards that improve energy efficiency, environmental impact and indoor air quality.
