2007 Energy Star Oregon Small Builder of the Year Award

Summerfield won this esteemed award for building homes that exceeded standards set forth by Energy Star. All homes that Summerfield built in 2006 were certified by Energy Star, and we continue to construct all of our homes by Energy Star’s specifications. By building green homes that exceed such rigorous standards, Summerfield is able to offer homes that have more energy saving and environmentally sustainable features than most builders offer.

Home Builders Association Builders Excellence

Beginning in 2005, Summerfield began participating in the Builder Excellence Awards presented by the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland. Summerfield has received an award in both years that we’ve participated. In 2005, Summerfield was honored for building a beautiful and high quality home in the $450,000 to $499,999 price range. In 2006, The HBA added a green building category to its award banquet; Summerfield received an honorable mention for building beautiful and high quality homes that are also certified by third-party vendors for exceeding green building standards.

Earth Advantage

Earth Advantage is a Portland based nonprofit organization that has focused on energy conservation for over a decade. Homes that are certified by Earth Advantage offer higher standards of energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, indoor air quality and resource efficiency. Summerfield has been an Earth Advantage partner since 2005, and all of the homes that we’ve built since then have been certified by the organization. Our certification from a trustworthy organization ensures homeowners that their home truly is green.

Energy Star

Energy Star is a program with energy saving standards developed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Energy Star certified homes are 30 percent more efficient than homes built to state code. This allows Energy Star homeowners to save money on utility bills. There are also environmental benefits to owning an Energy Star home; one Energy Star home can keep 2,070 pounds of greenhouse gases out of the air each year, which is equivalent to planting 200 trees or not driving 2,244 miles. Additionally, Energy Star building techniques ensure healthier indoor air quality. Summerfield’s partnership with Energy Star began in 2005 as one of the first builders in the Portland metro area to build Energy Star certified homes.
